Evolution of the NYC Tree Girls

The #NYCtreegirls are two friends who started attending the annual tree lighting in Rockefeller Center in 2015. They dressed as trees to stand out in the crowd there and at the Today Show. They were actually guests on the Today Show two different years, and have appeared in many places/events. (Their story is pretty interesting, and easily available online!)

I started working with them in 2017 as they prepared for the trip. Every year has a different theme to their costumes. They give me a sneak peak so that I can create cartoons for each of them. In 2019 we began a merchandise shop using their characters from shirts to tumblers to Christmas ornaments that I made in-house. They are a pro-bono project for me, and all the funds raised each year from sales goes to their specified charity for that year.

These images are from the autograph cards I create for them. As they stroll through New York they are often asked for autographs, and these are great promos. Every year the project evolves just a little more than the previous year, and every year seems to be my new favorite.
